The arrival

How a Bride and Groom Arrive by Helicopter

The usual plan is simple. The couple get ready at a villa or hotel, walk to a pad on the lawn or at the nearest approved site, and fly to the ceremony. A Canggu villa to a clifftop venue near Uluwatu is 10–15 min in the air, against 1.25 to 2 hours on the road on a wedding day. The bride arrives by helicopter without the car ride, and the guests are already seated.

Who sits in the cabin

The 4-seat class takes the couple and two more: parents or a witness. The 6-seat class takes six. For a bridal party of seven or eight, two helicopters land together. A full ball-gown skirt or a long train takes space and counts toward weight, so tell us about the dress when you book.

The photographer stays on the ground

The photographer in the package waits at the landing site and shoots the descent, the landing and the first steps. There is no room in the cabin for a second camera person, so the couple use a phone on a wrist strap if they want shots from the air.

Elopement flights

An elopement helicopter flight in Bali is the simplest version. Two guests fly to a private clifftop or lawn where a celebrant and photographer are waiting, and the helicopter leaves before the vows. We arrange the flight and the landing; the celebrant, any permits and the legal paperwork stay with you or your wedding planner.

Four Ways to Use a Helicopter at a Bali Wedding

The arrival

The main package. The couple fly in at the planned minute, the helicopter shuts down, and the photographer captures the landing. Guests are behind a line the pilot sets and the aisle starts when the rotor has stopped.

The elopement

Two guests, one helicopter and a clifftop or lawn on private land with the owner's agreement. The site and a back-up date are agreed before you pay; see how landing at a villa or hotel works.

The golden-hour portrait flight

After the ceremony and the family photos, an 18-minute flight lifts off about 20 minutes before sunset and lands at sunset, from $750. Read about sunset flights for the timings.

The honeymoon departure

Next morning, fly on: Sanur to Gili Trawangan is 30–40 min and starts from $2,700 one-way. See the Bali to the Gili Islands route or the honeymoon flight over Ubud.

Wedding-day timing

How the Arrival Fits Around the Ceremony

An example for a 16:30 ceremony in June, when sunset is about 18:05. Every helicopter flight must finish by sunset, so we count the day back from there.

  • Site and wind checkWe agree the landing area with the venue manager or your planner. Chairs, arches and drinks tables stay out of it.
  • Forecast, weights and dressWe confirm the forecast, the weights and the time. A car stays on the plan as the back-up.
  • Couple at the padBriefing and headsets. Hair is pinned for the wind, and the veil is fixed or goes on after landing.
  • Lift-offThe flight takes the minutes in the quote, for example 10–15 min from Canggu to Uluwatu.
  • Landing and shutdownThe rotor stops before the couple step out. Guests stay behind the line. The photographer shoots the landing.
  • CeremonyThe helicopter stays on standby, $300 per hour, if you want an exit flight. If it leaves instead, its take-off is the loudest moment, so plan it before the vows or after the last song.
  • Golden-hour flight, optionalThe 18-minute flight lifts off about 20 minutes before sunset and lands at sunset.
Noise and rotor wash

Noise, Rotor Wash, Veils and Dust: What to Plan For

A light helicopter is loud for the couple of minutes it lands and again when it lifts off. The real planning issue is rotor wash. It flattens grass, lifts dust and sand and pulls at anything light.

  • Veil and hair. A long veil whips around. Fix it firmly with pins or put it on after landing. Pin the hair up and carry a comb.
  • Hats, scarves, orders of service. Anything light leaves. Guests should not hold paper or wear hats near the pad.
  • The dress. Hold the skirt as you step down, and ask a helper to hold the hem.
  • Decorations. Arches, flower stands, balloons and napkins are weighted or placed outside the landing zone. The pilot decides how far out.
  • Dust and sand. Short grass and paved pads are best. Bare dry ground and sand throw dust over everyone; the venue can damp the ground first.
  • Guests, drinks and sound equipment. They stay behind the line the pilot sets, away from the landing area.

Walk the site with your planner

The landing area is roughly 25 to 30 m across and must be clear of loose items, overhead lines and tall trees close by. If you can see anything light inside or close to it, move it. Tell nearby villas and neighbours the time of the arrival.

Checklist

Wedding Day Helicopter Checklist

  • Pin the hair and fix the veil. Or put the veil on after landing.
  • Tell us weights, the dress and the bags. Weight limits the load in Bali heat, and a full skirt takes space.
  • Mark the landing area with the venue manager. Clear it of loose items before the pilot arrives.
  • Brief the DJ, band and celebrant. No music or vows during the landing or take-off.
  • Keep a car on the plan as back-up. The pilot makes the weather call, and the ceremony time cannot move.
  • Leave the cabin camera at home. The photographer works on the ground; a phone on a wrist strap is enough for the air.

How to Book a Helicopter Wedding Arrival

Send the date, venue and ceremony time

Add the name of the getting-ready villa or hotel, how many guests fly and whether the planner is already involved.

We check the sites at both ends

We confirm the take-off pad, the landing site at the venue, the aircraft and the price. Private sites can take a few days to clear, so ask early.

A deposit holds the slot

The deposit is paid with the details in the quote. The website itself takes no payment.

Timing meeting with the planner

We share the timings and the landing area with your planner and the venue, so the arrival sits cleanly in the day.

Weather on the day: the pilot's call

If wind, rain or low cloud make the flight unsafe, we move it to the next suitable slot where possible or refund the part that was not flown.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does a helicopter wedding arrival cost in Bali?

The wedding arrival package is $1,700 for the whole helicopter, up to 4 guests. It covers about 35 minutes of aircraft time, a photographer on the ground and sparkling wine. Extras are priced separately: set-up $350, drone filming $300, standby $300 per hour.

Can the helicopter land at our wedding venue?

At an approved site: a hotel or resort helipad, a large flat lawn where the owner agrees, or private land that the operator has cleared. We do not land on public beaches, in temple grounds or in national parks. Send the venue name and we confirm the site before you pay.

Will the rotor wash ruin the dress and hair?

It will move them, so plan for it. Pin the hair, fix the veil or put it on after landing, hold the skirt on the step and keep guests and decorations back from the landing area. The pilot sets the line.

How many people can ride, and can the photographer come along?

Up to 4 in the standard class, 6 in the larger class, or two helicopters for 7 to 8. The package photographer works on the ground at the landing site, because there is no spare seat for a camera person in the cabin.

Can we elope by helicopter in Bali?

Yes. You fly to a private clifftop or lawn where the celebrant and photographer wait. We arrange the flight and the approved landing; the celebrant, permits and legal paperwork are yours or your planner's to arrange.

What if it rains or the wind is strong on the wedding day?

The pilot makes the call. The ceremony time cannot move, so keep a car on the plan as the back-up. We refund the part that was not flown or move the flight to the next suitable slot, such as a portrait flight the next morning.

Can we fly after the ceremony?

Yes, if it fits before sunset. Flights end at sunset, about 18:05 in June and about 18:40 in late December. A late-afternoon ceremony followed by an 18-minute golden-hour flight works; an evening ceremony needs the arrival earlier in the day.

Arrive by Helicopter: Send the Date and the Venue

Tell us the ceremony date and time, the venue and where you are getting ready. We reply the same day with the aircraft, the landing site and a fixed price.
