Helicopter Charter Rates in Bali: 4-Seat, 6-Seat and Two Helicopters

Helicopter hire in Bali follows one rule: every price is for the whole helicopter, with the aircraft, a licensed pilot and fuel included. Nobody pays per seat, so the fuller the cabin, the less each guest pays.

What is included

What the Hourly Rate Covers and What Counts as Standby

A helicopter rental here always comes with a pilot: the hourly rate pays for the aircraft, a licensed pilot and fuel. The flight is operated by a licensed Indonesian air operator, and you can ask for the operator's name and licence number when the quote arrives. We plan the route, the timing and the price with you.

Flying time

Flying time is the time the helicopter is in the air on your route, charged at the hourly rate. On a custom route the quote lists each leg with its airborne minutes, so you can see where the hour goes. As a guide, the Bukit pad to Nusa Penida is 14–20 min each way and the Bukit pad to Ubud is 14–20 min.

Standby

Standby is the time the helicopter waits on the ground, with the pilot, at an approved site while you eat lunch, attend a ceremony or walk a beach. It costs $300 per hour. Because the helicopter stays put, you re-board where you landed and there is no second pick-up to pay for.

Not in the hourly rate

  • Sparkling wine $120 and a bouquet $60, handed over on the ground
  • A photographer at the landing site $250, or drone filming from the ground $300
  • A styled landing-site set-up $350: arch or table, cushions, flowers
  • A private car to the pad, from $50 depending on the area
  • Any airport or venue charge for landing, which is shown as its own line in the quote before you pay
Itineraries

Six Charter Itineraries to Build From

A charter has no fixed route. These six start from the requests we see most, and each can be shortened, stretched or reversed.

Bukit to Nusa Penida and back

Cross to Nusa Penida in 14–20 min, spend the middle of the hour along Kelingking, Broken Beach and Crystal Bay, then fly home. One hour in the 4-seat class is $2,300. Compare the fixed-route Nusa Penida tour.

Ubud terraces, then Mount Batur

Bukit to Ubud is 14–20 min, Ubud to Mount Batur is 13–20 min and the return to the Bukit is 20–30 min. With time over the Tegalalang terraces and the crater lake you are at an hour or a little more. See the Mount Batur tour.

A day on Lombok

Fly from the Ngurah Rai area to Lombok in 35–50 min, spend the day at Kuta Lombok or Mandalika with the helicopter on standby, and fly back. Bali to Lombok and back with a one-hour wait is about $3,550. Details are on the Bali to Lombok route.

Villa to a cliff lunch and home

Fly from a Canggu villa to an approved clifftop site near Uluwatu in 10–15 min, stand by through lunch, then fly the coast home. The landing site is the part that needs approval, so start with how villa and hotel landings work.

Two-hour island circuit

Take the 60-minute route in the grand circle tour and add a second hour for Lake Beratan, the Munduk lakes and the north coast. It is priced as two flying hours in the class you choose.

Sunrise start

Lift off at 07:00 or soon after, when Batur, the Agung ridge and the Ayung gorge are clear of cloud. The morning hours between 07:00 and 10:00 give the clearest air of the day, and in the wet season they are the most reliable.

Group size

4-Seat, 6-Seat or Two Helicopters: How to Split a Group

The class follows the number of guests and their combined weight with bags. In Bali heat a helicopter lifts less than its seat count suggests, so we ask for approximate weights and the number of soft bags. Four adults with four bags can be tighter in a 4-seat aircraft than five people with hand luggage in a 6-seat one.

GuestsWhat fliesWhat it costsGood to know
1–44-seat class$2,300 per hourThe most common charter for couples and families
5–66-seat class$3,300 per hourAbout 1.4 times the 4-seat rate, but cheaper per guest when the cabin is full
7–8Two helicopters flying togetherOne hourly rate per aircraftTwo cabins, same take-off time, same landing site
9 or moreSeveral aircraft or shiftsBy quoteWe check that enough aircraft are free on your date before quoting

Shifts are the other way to split eight guests. One 4-seat helicopter flying two groups back to back costs roughly the same as two helicopters flying once, because the bill follows flying time. Two aircraft just halve the clock time and keep the party together at the landing site. Our guide to flying 6 to 8 people works through both options.

A charter day

How a Half-Day Charter With a Breakfast Stop Runs

This is an example for the 4-seat class. Your times are agreed on WhatsApp and moved if the forecast asks for it.

  • At the padThe pilot weighs guests and bags, explains the route, the headsets and the rules at the landing site.
  • Lift-offEarly air is the clearest of the day. The pilot can shorten or change the route for cloud, wind or an active-volcano advisory.
  • Landing at the breakfast siteFlying time stops for now. Standby starts at $300 per hour while the helicopter waits with the pilot.
  • Second legBack in the air for the scenic part of the morning, with a different line over the coast than on the way out.
  • Back at the padThe quote becomes the invoice: flying minutes at the hourly rate plus standby, exactly as listed.

Booking

How to Book a Helicopter Charter in Bali

Send the date, the guests and an idea

Even a loose idea works: a morning over Ubud and Batur, lunch on the Bukit, a day on Lombok. Add your hotel area so we can pick the closest pad.

We reply with aircraft, pad, route and price

The same-day reply names the class, the take-off pad, the legs with airborne minutes, and any standby. Fixed-route options such as the helicopter tours are offered if they cost less.

Landing sites are confirmed before you pay

Every stop is an approved site: an airport, a hotel or venue helipad, or private land where the owner agrees. Public beaches, temple grounds and national parks are never used as landing sites.

A deposit holds the slot

The deposit is paid with the details in your quote. This website itself takes no payment.

Weather: the pilot has the last word

If wind, cloud or visibility make a leg unsafe, we move the charter to the next suitable slot or refund the part that was not flown.

Before you fly

What to Know Before You Charter

  • Plan around daylight. Flights run from sunrise to sunset only. Sunset is about 18:05 in June and about 18:40 in late December.
  • Tell us weights and bags. Weight is the limit in Bali heat. Soft bags only; the hold is small.
  • Choose stops with an approved site. A lawn, a clifftop or a helipad is not automatically a landing site. We check each one and confirm it before payment.
  • Dress for wind on the pad. Flat shoes, no hats and no loose scarves. Rotor wash picks up anything light.
  • Keep a little slack in the plan. Volcano advisories for Agung, Batur and Rinjani can change a route, and mountain cloud builds from late morning.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does a helicopter charter cost in Bali per hour?

A 4-seat helicopter is $2,300 per flying hour and a 6-seat helicopter is $3,300, for the whole aircraft with pilot and fuel included. A helicopter waiting on the ground is $300 per hour. These are guide prices; the WhatsApp quote fixes your total.

Can I choose my own route and stops?

Yes. Tell us the places and the time you have, and we build the legs with airborne minutes. The pilot has the final say on the day, because wind, cloud and volcano advisories can shift a route.

Is a charter cheaper than a fixed-route tour?

For one short flight, no. A 12-minute Bukit flight is $450 and a 30-minute Batur flight is $1,150. Hourly charter pays off when you want several stops, a long day or a route that no tour covers. See the helicopter tours before you decide.

How many people can fly, and will we be weighed?

Up to 4 guests in the 4-seat class, up to 6 in the 6-seat class, or two helicopters for 7–8 guests. We ask for approximate weights when you book, and the pilot weighs guests and bags at the pad, because weight limits the load in Bali heat.

Can the helicopter wait while we have lunch?

Yes, at an approved landing site. The wait is standby at $300 per hour. The helicopter stays with its pilot, so you re-board at the same spot.

Where can the helicopter land?

At airports, hotel and resort helipads, venue helipads and private land where the owner agrees and the landing has been cleared. Public beaches, temple grounds and national parks are excluded. Read the landing guide for what a site needs.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day?

The pilot decides. We move the charter to the next suitable slot, often the next morning, or refund the part that was not flown. Mornings are usually the most stable, especially from November to March.
