How Much Does a Helicopter Cost in Bali? Prices by Flight in 2026

A helicopter ride in Bali starts at $450 for 12 minutes, and that price is for the whole helicopter, not per seat. A 30-minute volcano flight is $1,150, an hour over the island $2,300, and hourly charter $2,300. Here is how each price is built and how to compare quotes.

The short answer

The Short Answer: Price Per Helicopter, Not Per Person

In Bali you hire the aircraft. A private helicopter with pilot and fuel costs about $2,300 per flight hour for up to 4 guests, which works out to roughly $38 per minute in the air. Short scenic flights are priced as ready-made routes, so you pay one figure for the whole helicopter whether one guest or four are on board.

That is why group size matters more than the flight itself. The 12-minute Bukit flight is $450: that is $225 each for a couple and $115 each for four friends. All figures here are guide prices; the fixed quote for your date comes on WhatsApp and is the one that counts. The full list is on our price page.

Two things surprise first-time buyers. First, the price does not change if the helicopter flies half empty, so a solo traveller pays the full $450. Second, longer flights are not discounted per minute: the 60-minute grand circle at $2,300 costs about five times the 12-minute flight because you are using about five times the aircraft time. What does change is what you see, so choose the route first and the length second, using our route comparison.

Scenic Flight Prices by Length

Prices include the pilot, fuel and the aircraft. Air time is airborne time; add 15–20 minutes for check-in and the safety briefing.

FlightAir timeWhole helicopterPer person (2)Per person (4)
Bukit cliffs & GWK statue12 min$450$225$115

Sunset flights that end at golden hour cost a little more: $750 for 18 minutes.

Transfers

Why a One-Way Transfer Costs Almost as Much as a Return

Transfers are priced by flight time between two places, and the one-way fare includes the helicopter's flight back. When you land in Ubud, Lombok or on a Gili island, the aircraft has to return empty to its base, so you are paying for both legs of aircraft time.

Take Bali to Lombok. Flight time is about 35–50 min each way, and the one-way fare is from $3,250 for the whole helicopter, which is $815 each for four guests. If you want to come back the same day, book the return: it is the same flight time plus a standby fee of $300 per hour, so the round trip with a one-hour wait starts at about $3,550.

Short hops follow the same logic. Airport to Uluwatu is only 9–14 min in the air, but the one-way price is from $900. For distances that short a car is usually cheaper; the helicopter wins when the road is slow, as from the airport to Ubud (13–20 min by air, from $1,300). Charter

Hourly Charter Prices and Aircraft Classes

For custom routes, multi-stop days and filming, the helicopter is billed by flight hour. Which class you need depends on guests and weights.

ClassGuestsPer flight hourGood for
4-seat classup to 4$2,300Couples, small groups, most scenic flights and transfers
6-seat classup to 6$3,300Families, groups with bags, island days

Waiting on the ground at a landing site is billed as standby at $300 per hour. Charter details.

What moves the price

What Pushes a Quote Up or Down

Flight minutes and aircraft class set most of the price. After that, a handful of things add or save money:

  • Golden hour. The last 30 minutes of daylight are the most requested, so those slots cost a little more than the same minutes at midday.
  • Peak weeks. July, August and Christmas–New Year book out first; the quote can add a few hundred dollars.
  • Landing sites. Airports and approved pads are in the price. A hotel or venue that charges for landing passes that cost on at cost.
  • Waiting time. If the helicopter waits for you on the ground, standby is added per hour.
  • Distance to the pad. A private car to the helipad starts from $50, priced by area and vehicle.
  • Weights. A heavier group may need the 6-seat class or two helicopters; see weight limits and baggage.
Compare quotes

How to Compare Two Helicopter Quotes Fairly

A cheaper figure is not always cheaper. Ask each provider the same five questions.

  • How many minutes are billed? Airborne time, or engine-running time including ground time and the empty flight back?
  • Which aircraft class is it? 4-seat, 6-seat or a larger helicopter, and does your group's weight fit without a limit on bags?
  • Who is the operator? Ask for the company name and its air operator licence number, and check it matches the flight.
  • What is not in the price? Landing fees, standby, a car to the pad, taxes and extras.
  • What happens in bad weather? Reschedule or refund of the unflown part, written in the quote and not just promised.
Pay less

Five Honest Ways to Pay Less

  1. Fill the aircraft. Four guests on one helicopter cost a quarter each. Ask friends, or see group flights for 6 to 8 people.
  2. Fly midweek and in the morning. Mornings carry no golden-hour premium and give the clearest volcano views.
  3. Choose the shorter route. The 12- and 18-minute flights show the Bukit cliffs and Tanah Lot for a fraction of the grand circle.
  4. Book the return, not two one-ways. Standby is cheaper than an extra empty positioning flight.
  5. Skip a landing you do not need. A flight without a styled landing saves the set-up and photographer lines.

When you are ready, send the date, guest count and rough weights on WhatsApp. The reply names the helipad, the aircraft class and one fixed price, and nothing is paid through the website.
