12-Minute Bukit Helicopter Tour
The shortest scenic flight: the GWK statue, the white Pandawa and Melasti cliffs and Uluwatu Temple on its sea cliff, in one 12-minute loop.

From the clifftop path you see one stretch of Uluwatu's wall. An Uluwatu helicopter tour shows the whole line in 18 minutes: Uluwatu Temple on its 70 m drop, the Suluban surf break, the cove at Padang Padang, Bingin's cafés on the cliff edge and Balangan, then Jimbaran Bay on the way home. The whole helicopter, up to 4 guests, is $650. Send the date on WhatsApp and we confirm the pad and a fixed price today.
Prices are for the whole helicopter and include the pilot and fuel. The golden-hour flight is the same route, timed so that you land at sunset.
| Flight | Length | Whole helicopter | Each, 2 guests / 4 guests |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daytime Uluwatu flight | 18 min | $650 | $325 / $165 |
| Golden-hour version, ends at sunset | 18 min | $750 | $375 / $190 |
| Add: sparkling wine on landing | – | $120 | – |
| Add: private car to the pad | – | from $50 | – |
The daytime flight is about Rp 11,600,000 in rupiah. A 6-seat helicopter costs about 1.4 times the 4-seat rate, and two helicopters for 7–8 guests are priced in the quote. How the numbers are built: price page.
The sides below assume the usual clockwise line: west along the south coast, then north up the west coast. In that direction the sea is on the left the whole way. Wind or air traffic can reverse the loop, and the pilot tells you at the briefing. Minute marks are approximate.
| Mark | Landmark | What to look for | Best side |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minute 0–2 | Ungasan plateau | Dry scrub, quarried limestone walls and the GWK statue dropping behind as you turn west | Both |
| About minute 3–6 | South-coast cliffs | White limestone stepping down to turquoise shallows, swell breaking on reef shelves | Left |
| About minute 7–8 | Uluwatu Temple | Temple walls on a drop of about 70 m, the clifftop path, the pilot's turn north | Left |
| About minute 9 | Suluban and the Uluwatu break | Surfers waiting outside the reef, stairs and cafés cut into the cliff ledges | Left |
| About minute 11 | Padang Padang | A narrow cove with a small beach, surfers waiting beyond the rocks | Left |
| About minute 12 | Bingin | Villas and cafés on the cliff edge, a reef wave breaking underneath | Left |
| About minute 14 | Balangan | A wider sandy bay with surf shacks and reef | Left |
| About minute 16 | Jimbaran Bay | The curve of the bay, seafood cafés along the sand, fishing boats at anchor | Left |
| Minute 18 | The pad | Back over the Ungasan plateau | Both |
For the shorter loop that turns back at the temple, see GWK and Bukit in 12 minutes.
On the clockwise line the left seats get the cliff faces, the sea and the surf lines, which is the picture most guests want. The right seats look down on the plateau: villa clusters, building plots, the green belt behind the temple and the road that snakes toward Padang Padang. Both sides see the temple during the turn, and both see Jimbaran Bay at the end.
The pilot assigns seats for weight and balance, so a seat request is a request, not a promise. The price is for the whole helicopter, so changing seats does not change it. If two of you want the sea side, say so when you book and give your weights, because weights decide who sits where.
At the briefing, ask the pilot to turn so that your window faces the temple and Padang Padang. A slow turn over a landmark is part of what the 18 minutes pay for.
The Bukit's west-facing reefs are what bring surfers, and they favour the dry season, April to October. In those months expect more riders in the water at Suluban, Padang Padang and Bingin, which makes the lineups easier to read from the air. In the wet season, November to March, the break is smaller on many days and afternoon showers are likelier, so we move flights to the morning.
Tide changes the picture. At low tide the reef shelves under the cliffs show as pale ledges, and the cove at Padang Padang looks tiny. At high tide the white water reaches the foot of the cliff. Tide tables are public, so check low and high water for your date if the reef detail matters to you.
Morning, 07:00 to 10:00, gives the clearest air and the calmest surface. In the last hour before sunset the west-facing cliffs at Bingin and Padang Padang glow orange, and the temple wall goes gold. That is the golden-hour version for $750. Our sunset flight page explains how the take-off time is chosen, and the best-time guide lists hours by month.
Same length and price as the west-coast flight, a different coastline. As a Bali cliffs helicopter flight this is the long one, and the 12-minute flight is the short version.
| Tour | Minutes | From | Choose it if |
|---|---|---|---|
| GWK and Bukit | 12 | $450 | You only want the statue, the white cliffs and the temple |
| Tanah Lot and west coast | 18 | $650 | A sea temple, rice fields and beach clubs rather than reef breaks |
| Nusa Penida | 30 | $1,150 | Bigger cliffs across the water |
| Mount Batur | 30 | $1,150 | A volcano and a crater lake |
| Grand circle | 60 | $2,300 | The coast, the mountains and the terraces in one flight |
Daytime costs less, and morning air is the clearest. Golden hour costs $750 and ends at sunset, with take-off about 20–30 minutes before it.
Add your hotel area. From the airport the drive to Uluwatu takes about 40–60 minutes, and from Canggu allow roughly 1.25–2 hours.
The quote names the Bukit pad, the aircraft class and the meeting time. Pick-up pages such as helicopter Uluwatu show what is realistic for a villa landing.
The deposit holds the slot and is paid the way the quote explains, not through this site. Ask for the operator's name and licence number at the same time.
$650 for the whole helicopter, up to 4 guests, which is $165 each for four or $325 each for two. The golden-hour version is $750. Both include the pilot and fuel.
No. On an Uluwatu temple helicopter flight you see the temple from the air only, because temple grounds are not landing sites. The flight passes the temple at a respectful height and distance, and the pilot turns so each side of the cabin sees the walls and the cliff.
Usually yes, especially from April to October and in the morning. Look for dark dots waiting outside the reef at Suluban, Padang Padang and Bingin. Whether waves are breaking on the day depends on swell and tide.
If you want the cliff run past Padang Padang and Bingin as well as the temple, yes. The 12-minute flight turns back at the temple. Compare them on the GWK and Bukit page.
The golden-hour flight ends at sunset, and the temple's kecak performance is also timed around sunset, so the two clash on the same evening. Pick one, or fly in the morning and see the dance in the evening.
The pilot assigns seats for balance, but the temple is passed on both sides during the turn and Jimbaran Bay on both sides at the end. Tell us who wants the sea side when you book.
Yes. A bouquet and sparkling wine can be waiting at the pad. See helicopter proposal packages or birthday flights for set-ups built on this route.
Choose daytime or golden hour, then send the date and the number of guests. The reply names the pad, the aircraft class and a fixed price, and the deposit is arranged on WhatsApp.
