12-Minute Bukit Helicopter Tour
The shortest scenic flight: the GWK statue, the white Pandawa and Melasti cliffs and Uluwatu Temple on its sea cliff, in one 12-minute loop.

Helicopter Kuta Bali flights start 10–20 minutes by car from Ngurah Rai Airport, which makes Kuta and Legian the easiest strip in Bali to fly from. Uluwatu is 9–15 min away by air, Ubud 12–20 min and Nusa Penida 14–20 min. The whole helicopter, up to 4 guests, starts at $950 one-way to Uluwatu. Send your hotel street, date and guest count on WhatsApp; we reply with the pad and the pick-up time.
Kuta and Legian run together as one strip: a straight, west-facing beach with surf schools working the waves, shops and bars a street back, and hotels at every price. First-time visitors, friends on group trips, surfers, bachelorette and stag parties, and families on short stays fill it. At the southern end the airport runway finishes at the sea just below Kuta Beach, so you watch jets come in low over the surf.
That closeness is the reason to fly from here. Ngurah Rai Airport is a short car ride away, so a helicopter day can start straight after you land or end well before you fly out. Three kinds of guest book most often:
From a Kuta hotel the airport is 10–20 minutes by car; Legian adds a few minutes. The Bukit pad near Ungasan, where most scenic flights lift off, is roughly 40–60 minutes away in daytime traffic. The exact pad for your date is written in the quote, together with the time to leave your hotel.
Kuta lies close to the airport's approach and departure paths, so every take-off and landing near the strip needs air traffic clearance. That is one reason the pad sits outside the strip. A private car to the pad is an add-on from $50.
Eight destinations that guests staying in Kuta and Legian pick most often.
| Destination | Distance | Air time | One-way helicopter |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ungasan (Bukit) | 10 km | 8–13 min | from $800 |
| Uluwatu | 15 km | 9–15 min | from $950 |
| Tanah Lot | 14 km | 9–14 min | from $900 |
| Ubud | 26 km | 12–20 min | from $1,250 |
| Nusa Penida | 34 km | 14–20 min | from $1,300 |
| Jatiluwih | 39 km | 15–20 min | from $1,350 |
| Mount Batur | 58 km | 20–30 min | from $1,900 |
| Gili Trawangan | 104 km | 30–45 min | from $2,850 |
Distances are straight lines from the Kuta beachfront and the minutes are airborne only. Every fare already pays for the helicopter's empty flight home. If you want it to wait, add $300 per hour: Ubud and back with one hour on the ground comes to about $1,550. Details: price page.
The shortest scenic loop: the 121 m GWK statue, the white limestone cliffs and the beaches below them. The guide price assumes a Bukit start; the quote shows any change for another pad.
Follow the cliff line to the temple, about 70 m above the surf, and the breaks below it. Kuta to Uluwatu is 9–15 min in a straight line.
Take-off is about 20–30 minutes before sunset. Beach, reef and cliffs turn copper as you fly south. Book early in July, August and Christmas week.
Pair the flight with your landing or take-off at Ngurah Rai, then continue to a villa, a resort or an island. The hop from Kuta to the airport alone is not worth a helicopter; the value is in the longer leg beyond it.
Typical daytime estimates. The helicopter is priced for the whole aircraft, so the cost per person falls as the group grows.
| From Kuta to | By road or boat | Helicopter air time | One-way, whole helicopter |
|---|---|---|---|
| Uluwatu | Car about 40–60 min or more in peak traffic | 9–15 min | $950 |
| Ubud | Car about 60–90 min | 12–20 min | $1,250 |
| Tanah Lot | Car about 60–90 min | 9–14 min | $900 |
| Nusa Penida | Car to Sanur 25–40 min, then a fast boat 30–45 min | 14–20 min | $1,300 |
| Mount Batur, Kintamani | Car about 90–120 min | 20–30 min | $1,900 |
| Lombok airport | Scheduled flight about 40 min, plus airport time at both ends | 35–50 min | $3,250 |
Split four ways, Kuta to Ubud is about $315 each. Road and boat fares are lower per person; the helicopter buys back the hours in between. See all routes and transfers.
This is one of Bali's densest strips. Hotels climb several storeys, lanes are narrow, wires run along every lane, and the beach is a public, crowded surfing and sunbathing area where no helicopter lands. On top of that, the airport's airspace is right beside you. A pad at a Kuta hotel is the exception, not the plan.
That does not hurt the flight. A car to a pad in the airport area takes 10–20 minutes, so the gap between leaving the lobby and lift-off is mostly the briefing. If you organise an event and want a private landing, a larger site outside the strip, with a lawn and no wires close by, is the better start. Read how the permissions work on villa and hotel landings before you fall for a site.
Two windows work well. The first is 07:00 to 10:00, when the air is steady and the Ubud terraces and the Batur caldera are clear of cloud. The second is the last hour before sunset, when the Kuta shoreline, the reef lines and the Bukit cliffs catch the low light. At about 18:05 in June and 18:40 in late December, sunset moves by half an hour over the year, so we count back from the exact time.
The dry season from April to October gives the clearest horizon. From November to March afternoon showers are likely, which makes the morning slot safer. July, August and Christmas to New Year are the busiest weeks, and sunset slots go first.
Date, number of guests, rough weights, the hotel or street in Kuta or Legian, and the flight idea. If you are landing at the airport, add your flight number and arrival time.
The quote names the aircraft, the pad, the departure time from your hotel and the total. We answer the same day, 08:00 to 20:00 WITA.
The deposit details arrive with the quote. This site never takes a payment.
The pilot decides on the weather. A flight that cannot go safely is moved to the next suitable slot, or the part not flown is refunded.
From Kuta the airport is 10–20 minutes by car and the Bukit pad near Ungasan roughly 40–60 minutes. The exact pad is in the quote, along with the time to leave your hotel. A private car to the pad starts at $50.
Almost never. The strip is dense, with high buildings and overhead wires, and the airport's airspace sits next to it. The beach is public and no landing is made there. Most guests take a short car ride to the pad.
From $950 one-way for the whole helicopter, up to 4 guests, about $240 each. The fare also pays for the helicopter's empty flight home. The 18-minute Uluwatu helicopter tour is $650.
We cannot promise a runway view. Air traffic control sets the route near Ngurah Rai on the day, and the pilot keeps clear of the runway and its approach paths. You may still see aircraft and the airfield from the allowed route.
Usually yes, if the helicopter lands several hours before check-in. Wind and cloud can delay a flight, so keep a margin and tell us your departure time when you book.
Tour guide prices assume the usual Bukit start. A different pad changes the positioning time, and the quote shows the final fixed price for your pad. See the price page for how the guide prices are built.
Tell us the date, how many guests, the hotel street and the flight you have in mind. We reply the same day with the pad, the departure time and a fixed price.
