Sunset Helicopter Flight
A golden-hour flight over the Bukit cliffs that lands at sunset. 18 or 30 minutes, whole helicopter, up to 4 guests.

Looking for a helicopter in Jimbaran? The bay sits right beside the airport, so a flight from here is less about the first 15 minutes and more about what you do next. Golden hour over Jimbaran Bay and the Bukit cliffs starts at $750, Nusa Penida is 14–20 min across the strait, and the 12-minute Bukit loop is $450, all for the whole helicopter, up to 4 guests. Send your date, guests and hotel on WhatsApp and we reply the same day with the pad, the aircraft and a fixed price.
Jimbaran has one trait the other areas lack: the airport is at the top of the bay. A car takes 15–25 minutes, and a helicopter would take 7–11 min. So for a plain airport run, take the car. We say that because it is true, and because it saves you $700.
Where the helicopter earns its price from Jimbaran is everything beyond the Bukit. Ubud, the volcanoes, Nusa Penida and Lombok are each a long road or sea trip, and each is under 50 minutes in the air. The bay itself is the other draw: it faces west, so golden hour arrives over the water, and a flight timed to end at sunset shows the whole curve of the beach and the cliffs behind it.
Car times are daytime figures and vary with traffic. The last column is our straight view.
| From Jimbaran to | By road or sea | By helicopter | Worth the helicopter? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ngurah Rai Airport | 15–25 min by car | 7–11 min | Rarely; a car is cheaper and about as fast |
| Ubud | about 1.25–1.75 h by car | 14–20 min | Yes, for a day trip or a late arrival |
| Tanah Lot | about 1.25–1.75 h by car | 10–15 min | Yes, near sunset when the road is slow |
| Nusa Lembongan | drive to Sanur, then a 30–45 min fast boat | 14–20 min | Yes, with luggage or small children |
| Jatiluwih terraces | about 2 h by car | 15–25 min | Yes, a car day is long for one stop |
| Gili Trawangan | drive to the harbour, then about 2.5 h by fast boat | 30–45 min | Yes, if the day is short |
Helicopter times are airborne only, with the briefing and shutdown on top. One-way prices include the empty return flight; see the price page.
Seven destinations measured from the bay.

| Seminyak | 11 km | 8–13 min | from $800 |
| Sanur | 16 km | 9–15 min | from $950 |
| Nusa Lembongan | 34 km | 14–20 min | from $1,300 |
| Ubud | 33 km | 14–20 min | from $1,300 |
| Jatiluwih | 47 km | 15–25 min | from $1,550 |
| Lombok International Airport | 123 km | 35–50 min | from $3,250 |
The airport row is here for completeness. For Lombok the route page Bali to Lombok by helicopter covers landing options and the strait.
Lift-off 20–30 minutes before sunset, over the Jimbaran shoreline, then south along the cliffs. Afterwards the bay's seafood cafés on the sand are a short drive away.
GWK, the Pandawa cliffs and Uluwatu Temple in one short flight, fitted into the morning before a late check-out or a mid-afternoon flight home.
35 km to the Kelingking cliffs and the island's south coast, instead of a drive to Sanur and a fast boat.
A chosen day of stops: Ubud for lunch, a stop at the coast, back for sunset. The helicopter waits on the ground at $300 per hour.
An example for a 17:00 flight home. International check-in usually opens three hours ahead, so build in a buffer for weather.
The bay is lined with beachfront hotels and seafood cafés on the sand. The sand is public, so we never land there, and the cafés' own terraces are too small and too crowded. What can work are the hotels' garden lawns and the larger hillside villas on the slope above the bay, where a plot may be wide enough for a light helicopter.
Two Jimbaran-specific limits. The first is airspace: the airport's approach and departure paths run close to the bay, so flights in this corner are coordinated with air traffic control, and some sites may not be cleared for that reason. The second is the hillside: slopes, mature trees and cables above the bay narrow the choices, so we check each plot on satellite imagery before applying. The usual rule of thumb is a clear flat area of about 25–30 m.
If your hotel cannot host a landing, the Bukit pad is close, and we can arrange the car with the quote. See landing at a villa or hotel for the full rules.
For the bay, the answer is the last hour before sunset: the beach faces west, and the cafés fill up as the sun goes down. Sunset is about 18:05 in June and 18:40 in late December. For Ubud, the volcano and Nusa Penida, book between 07:00 and 10:00, when the air is clear and cloud has not built over the hills.
Skies are clearest from April to October. In the wet months, November to March, showers arrive in the afternoon, so we place flights in the morning and keep a back-up day. If you are weighing options, see the best time for a helicopter flight in Bali.
If you leave Bali the same day, add the departure time and we build in the buffer.
The quote gives the pad, the lift-off time, the aircraft class and the price for the whole helicopter.
Payment details are in the quote. Nothing is paid through this website.
If conditions are wrong we move the flight, or refund the part not flown. For arrivals, see airport helicopter transfers.
The exact pad is written in your quote. Most south Bali flights lift off from a helipad on the Bukit near Ungasan, which is a short drive from Jimbaran. Hotel and villa sites in Jimbaran can be approved if they have a clear flat area, and we check that before you pay.
A golden-hour flight that ends at sunset starts at $750, and the 12-minute Bukit loop at $450. Both are for the whole helicopter, up to 4 guests. A one-way to Nusa Penida from Jimbaran is $1,300.
Usually not. The airport is 15–25 minutes by car and 7–11 min by air, and the helicopter starts at $700. It can help only if a landing site at your hotel saves a long wait for a tight connection.
No. We do not land on public beaches. Hotel gardens and private hillside plots are the realistic options, and each one is checked and approved first.
Yes, if you build in a buffer. We suggest finishing the flight at least four hours before an international departure, since weather can move a slot. Tell us your flight time and we plan backwards from it.
Take off about 20–30 minutes before sunset so the flight ends as the sun reaches the horizon. Sunset is roughly 18:05 in June and 18:40 in late December. Read about sunset helicopter flights.
Tell us the date, the guests, your hotel and any flight home. We reply the same day with the pad, the lift-off time and a fixed price for the whole helicopter.
