12-Minute Bukit Helicopter Tour
The shortest scenic flight: the GWK statue, the white Pandawa and Melasti cliffs and Uluwatu Temple on its sea cliff, in one 12-minute loop.

Ungasan and Pecatu are where most south Bali helicopter flights begin. The 12-minute loop over GWK, the Pandawa cliffs and Uluwatu Temple starts at $450 for the whole helicopter, up to 4 guests, and Nusa Penida is 14–20 min away. If you stay here, the drive to the pad is short; if you stay elsewhere, the table below shows the road time from each area. Send your date, guests and area on WhatsApp for the exact pad, the aircraft and a fixed price.
The Bukit is the dry limestone peninsula at Bali's southern tip, and Ungasan and Pecatu sit on its plateau between Jimbaran in the north and Uluwatu in the west. The land here is wide and flat compared with the crowded west coast, and it is quick to reach the sea in either direction. That is why most south Bali scenic flights, and the flight times quoted across this site, are measured from the Ungasan area.
Landmarks tell you where you are. The 121 m Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue stands at Ungasan. South of it the Pandawa and Melasti beaches sit at the foot of the cliff, with Pandawa reached through a road cut into the limestone. Pecatu runs west along the plateau toward Uluwatu Temple. A helicopter lifting off here passes all of them within minutes.
One point to be clear on: the pad is not a public attraction. The exact pad is written in your quote, together with the lift-off time and the aircraft.
Rough daytime drives to the Ungasan area, to plan your arrival. Traffic decides the real number.
| If you stay in | Car to the pad | Air time instead | Area page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ungasan or Pecatu | about 5–25 min | pad is next door | this page |
| Uluwatu | about 15–30 min | 8–13 min | Uluwatu |
| Jimbaran | about 15–30 min | 6–10 min | Jimbaran |
| Nusa Dua | about 20–40 min | 7–12 min | Nusa Dua |
| Seminyak | about 45–90 min | 9–14 min | Seminyak |
| Canggu | 1.25–2 h | 10–15 min | Canggu |
| Ubud | 1.5–2 h | 14–20 min | Ubud |
The air column assumes a pick-up at an approved site in your area. If there is none, the quote uses the pad and the car comes first. A private car to the pad is $50 and up, priced by area and vehicle.
GWK, the Pandawa cliffs and Uluwatu Temple in one short loop. The cheapest way into the air and the right first flight for most guests.
Longer along the western cliffs, with time to circle the temple and the surf breaks below it.
Across the strait in 14–20 min to the island's cliffs. A same-day return with a one-hour wait adds $300.
Ubud is 14–20 min north. The terraces and the Ayung gorge are a morning flight, and the pad is the starting point.
These are the reference figures: the same Ungasan baseline that sets minutes and prices across the site.
| Destination | Distance | Air time | One-way helicopter |
|---|---|---|---|
| Padang Padang | 7 km | 7–12 min | from $750 |
| Uluwatu | 9 km | 8–13 min | from $800 |
| Nusa Penida | 34 km | 14–20 min | from $1,300 |
| Nusa Lembongan | 34 km | 14–20 min | from $1,300 |
| Ubud | 35 km | 14–20 min | from $1,300 |
| Mount Batur | 67 km | 20–30 min | from $1,900 |
| Canggu | 17 km | 10–15 min | from $950 |
| Gili Trawangan | 108 km | 30–45 min | from $2,850 |
Landing sites on the Gilis are limited and need prior approval, so the Gili Trawangan price is a guide until the site is confirmed. Every one-way price includes the empty flight back. The method is on the price page.
Of all the areas in this section, the Bukit plateau is the best fit for a landing at your own property. Plots are large, the ground is open, and many cliff villas have a wide lawn or a levelled terrace. If you are staying here, we can often skip the pad and pick you up where you are, after the clearance is in place.
Three local limits apply. First, the cliff rim: the pad is set back from the edge, because wind comes up the face. Second, dust and gravel: rotor wash lifts limestone grit, so a lawn or a wetted surface is better than a loose track. Third, public sites are off the list. The Pandawa and Melasti beaches are public sand, and a visitor attraction such as GWK is not a landing site unless the management agrees and the operator clears it.
Send a map pin and a photo of the flattest open space, and we reply the same day. The rules in full are in helicopter landing at a villa or hotel, and the same questions are answered in the guide to villa landings.
Because the peninsula is narrow, a flight from Ungasan sees the reef-sheltered lagoon of Nusa Dua on one side and the western cliffs on the other. Morning, 07:00 to 10:00, is the cleanest air for GWK and Nusa Penida. The last hour before sunset suits the cliffs and Uluwatu Temple, and the golden-hour flights end at sunset, which is about 18:05 in June and 18:40 in late December.
The dry months from April to October give the clearest sky. From November to March, aim for mornings and hold a back-up day for afternoon showers. Peak weeks are July, August and the Christmas to New Year period, and the best slots go first.
Add the flight you have in mind, or ask for a suggestion. Rough weights go in the same message.
The quote names the exact pad, the lift-off time and the price for the whole helicopter.
Payment details are sent with the quote. Nothing is paid on this website.
Weather is the pilot's call. If it is wrong we reschedule, or refund the part not flown. Questions about aircraft: helicopter types.
The exact pad is written in your quote, because it can depend on the aircraft, the route and the date. Most south Bali scenic flights lift off from a helipad on the Bukit near Ungasan, within a short drive of Jimbaran, Uluwatu and Nusa Dua.
The 12-minute loop over GWK, the Pandawa cliffs and Uluwatu Temple starts at $450 for the whole helicopter, up to 4 guests. The 18-minute Uluwatu run starts at $650. A one-way to Nusa Penida is $1,300.
Often, if there is a cleared flat area of roughly 25–30 m, no overhead lines or tall trees close by, and the owner and operator agree. Cliff-edge terraces are not used; the pad sits back from the rim. We confirm the site before you pay.
It is 7 km in a straight line and 7–12 min by helicopter. By road, the airport is 40–60 minutes from Uluwatu, and the Ungasan area is on the way there. See airport helicopter transfers.
No. Public beaches are never used, and a visitor attraction needs the management's agreement and the operator's clearance first. You see GWK and the Pandawa cliffs from the air on the 12-minute loop.
From 07:00 to 10:00 the air is clearest. For the cliffs and the temple, the last hour before sunset is warmer. Dry-season months, April to October, are the clearest, and the pilot makes the final call on the day.
Send your date, guest count and the area you are staying in. We reply the same day with the exact pad, the aircraft and one price for the whole helicopter.
