Ubud Helicopter Tour
12 minutes over the Tegalalang rice terraces, the Ayung river gorge and the Campuhan ridge, flown in the soft light of the morning.

Ubud sits inland and uphill from the coast, which makes it the area where a helicopter saves the most road time. Uluwatu is 15–25 min away by air against 1.5–2 hours by car, and Ngurah Rai Airport is 13–20 min against 60–90 minutes. Scenic flights over the terraces and the Ayung gorge start at $500 for the whole helicopter, up to 4 guests. Send your villa area, date and group size on WhatsApp for a same-day quote, and ask early about a landing site in the valley.
Almost every road in Bali leads south, and Ubud is a long way up it. Guests staying among the temples, galleries and rice paddies of the cultural centre face an hour or more on the road to reach the airport, and well over an hour to reach the coast at Uluwatu. In the air the same trips take 13–20 min and 15–25 min.
Three kinds of guest use that gap. Retreat and wedding groups who need to be at a cliff venue by sunset. Honeymooners who want the volcano and the sea in a single morning. And arrivals who would rather land at the airport and be at their valley villa for lunch. Each one is covered below, with the car time next to the helicopter time so you can judge it yourself.
Car times are daytime estimates and swing with traffic through Sanur, Denpasar and the bypass roads. Helicopter minutes are airborne only.

Mount Agung is an active volcano, and routes near it change with official alerts. Distances here are a guide to price; the actual route is set by the pilot and air traffic control.
A 12-minute loop over the Tegalalang terraces and the Ayung gorge. It is the one flight built around Ubud rather than around the coast.
Ubud is 32 km from the 1,717 m cone. This is the closest big volcano to the valley, and a morning flight gives you the caldera before cloud forms.
Land at Ngurah Rai in the morning and be in the valley in 13–20 min, if the villa or a nearby site has an approved landing area.
Ubud sits in the middle of the island, so the longer circuit covers Jatiluwih's UNESCO terraces, Lake Beratan and the volcano rim in one go.
Ubud is built on ridges between river gorges, and that shapes everything about landing. Many villas hang on a slope above the Ayung or a smaller stream. The flat ground is where the terrace has been cut, and it is narrow. Tall coconut palms, banyans and wiring along the lane close in the approach.
Standing rice, because it is a farmer's crop. The edge of a gorge, where wind rolls up the slope. Anything beside a temple during a ceremony; Balinese ceremonies are frequent, and the pilot keeps height and distance over them. Rotor noise also carries a long way across a valley, so your neighbours will hear the helicopter well before it lands.
When no site is practical, the fallback is a car to a pad. The rules and the paperwork are in helicopter landing at a villa or hotel, and for the typical steps see the villa landing guide.
Five details are enough for a first answer, usually within the day.
Book 07:00 to 10:00. Early light flatters the terraces, and mist can sit low in the valleys in the first hour, especially in the wet season; the pilot waits until it clears. Cloud builds over the hills by late morning, which is why afternoon departures from Ubud are the ones we move most often.
April to October is the clearest period. From November to March expect showers later in the day and plan the flight for the morning. Note that Nyepi, the Balinese Day of Silence, usually falls in March: the whole island stays still for 24 hours, the airport included, so do not plan a flight that day. Compare the Ubud loop with other routes in which Bali helicopter tour to choose.
Say whether you want a scenic loop, the coast, or an airport transfer. A rough weight per guest helps.
The reply names the pad or landing site, the aircraft class, the lift-off time and a price for the whole helicopter. See how it is built on the price page.
Payment details come with the quote, and nothing is paid through this website.
If cloud or mist sits on the valley, the flight moves to the next suitable slot, or the part not flown is refunded.
Only on an approved site: a clear flat area with no overhead lines or tall trees close by, and the owner's agreement. Most valley villas are on slopes, so a resort lawn, an event field or a cleared plot nearby is more realistic. Send a map pin and a photo, and we check it before you pay.
About 15–25 min in the air, against 1.5–2 hours by car. A one-way costs from $1,550 for the whole helicopter, about $390 each for four guests. The price covers the empty flight back.
The 12-minute loop over the Tegalalang terraces and the Ayung gorge starts at $500 for the whole helicopter, up to 4 guests. A 30-minute flight to Mount Batur starts at $1,150. See the Ubud helicopter tour for the full route.
Many scenic flights lift off from the pad on the Bukit near Ungasan, about 1.5–2 hours from Ubud by car. Transfers can use other approved pads near Ubud. Your quote names the pad for your date.
The air leg is 13–20 min against 60–90 minutes by car, and starts at $1,300. It is worth it for a late arrival, a tight schedule or guests with children, if a landing site is available. See airport to Ubud by helicopter.
The pilot decides. Early mist usually lifts within the first hour; if it does not, or if cloud sits on the hills, we move the flight to the next suitable slot or refund the part that was not flown.
Tell us where you are staying, the date and how many of you are flying. We check the site and reply the same day with the aircraft, the lift-off time and one price for the whole helicopter.
