Helicopter Nusa Penida
Kelingking, Broken Beach, Diamond Beach and Crystal Bay from the air in minutes. Landing on approved sites only, never on beaches.

A Bali to Nusa Penida helicopter flight takes 14–20 min from the Bukit pad. The fast boat crossing alone takes about 30–45 minutes from Sanur, and from the Bukit you have a long drive to Sanur first. The whole helicopter, up to 4 guests, is $1,300 one-way. It lands only at approved sites, never at the Kelingking viewpoint or on a public beach such as Crystal Bay, so we confirm the exact site before you pay.
Penida is close enough that a boat is a real option. The honest question is what happens before and after the crossing.
| Option | Time on the move | What it involves | Cost basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Helicopter from the Bukit pad | 14–20 min airborne | Meet at the Bukit pad, land on an approved site on Penida, no harbour and no road to the first stop | One price for the aircraft: $1,300 one-way, about $325 each for 4 guests |
| Helicopter from a Sanur-side pad | 11–15 min airborne | A shorter flight for guests staying in Sanur, so a lower price | $1,000 one-way, about $250 each for 4 guests |
| Fast boat from Sanur | About 30–45 minutes at sea | A drive to Sanur first (roughly an hour or more from the Bukit), boarding from the beach, then island roads from a north-coast arrival | Fare per person |
| Day tour by boat and car | A full day in most cases | Hotel pick-up, boat, driver and a run of viewpoint stops | Per-person tour price |
Boat times depend on the operator, the swell and the queue at Sanur. The helicopter figure is airborne time, so add 15–20 minutes at the pad. If you only want to see the island's cliffs, the Nusa Penida helicopter tour from $1,150 is the better buy; this page is for getting yourself and your bags onto the island.
Lift-off is from the pad on the Bukit (see helicopter Ungasan for the area). The helicopter turns east, crosses the Nusa Dua coast with its reef-sheltered lagoon and heads out over open water. In a few minutes the sea changes from reef green to deep blue, and Penida's north-west corner fills the windscreen: a flat-topped limestone plateau whose white cliffs drop straight into the water.
The coast is the reason people ask for this route. Crystal Bay shows as a pale curve on the west side. Further round the south-west coast lie the Kelingking T-Rex cliff, Broken Beach and Angel's Billabong, a few minutes apart by air. Manta Bay sits on that same side, and Diamond Beach, at the foot of its cliff staircase, is on the east. The pilot can give you a slow pass over one or two of them on the way in if the plan allows; longer routings are priced by the extra minutes.
Roads on Penida are narrow and steep, and the sights are far apart by car even when they are close in the air. That is where a flight earns its price: you land near where you are staying instead of arriving on the north coast and driving across the island. Aim for 07:00–10:00, when the air is clearest and the sea is calmest.
Landing is only at approved sites. On Penida that means a resort or villa with a flat, cleared area of roughly 25–30 m across, or private land where the owner agrees and the operator has cleared the landing. We do not land at Kelingking, Angel's Billabong, Broken Beach, Diamond Beach or Crystal Bay. They are public viewpoints and beaches, and the answer there is no.
Send the name of your Penida stay first; the general rules are in our villa and hotel landing guide. If it cannot take a helicopter, we say so in the first reply and suggest the nearest approved alternative, so you are not planning around a pad that does not exist.
A sample plan. Your times depend on sunrise, the forecast and the landing site; mornings give the clearest air.

The one-way figures already include the empty flight home. Penida to Lembongan is only 8–12 min, so the two islands combine well; the Lembongan route has the details. For how prices are built see the price page.
Manta Bay and Crystal Bay pull divers, and a boat day with heavy kit is long. Tell us the weight of the kit early, because weight is the limit in Bali heat.
Resort guests who would rather land near their villa than board from a beach and ride across the island. The site must be approved first.
Kelingking from the air rather than from its busy viewpoint. For a pure sightseeing loop, compare the Nusa Penida island guide and the scenic tour.

The quote names the Bukit or Sanur pad, the Penida site, the aircraft class and the fixed price, including the helicopter's wait if you return.
Payment details come with the quote. Nothing is paid on this site.
We check wind and the strait forecast. If wind or sea state worries the pilot, the flight moves to the next good slot, or the part not flown is refunded.
Over the reef and the seaweed farms to a resort landing on Lembongan, with the Yellow Bridge to Ceningan in view. Site approved before you pay.
Sanur to Gili Trawangan in 30–40 min instead of 2–2.5 hours on a fast boat. Gili landing sites are limited and approved in advance.
Across the Lombok Strait in about 35–50 min instead of a half-day by boat or ferry.
About 14–20 min in the air from the Bukit pad, and 11–15 min from a Sanur-side pad. Allow a further 15–20 minutes on the ground for weighing bags and the briefing.
From $1,300 one-way from the Bukit for the whole helicopter, up to 4 guests, about $325 each. From Sanur it starts at $1,000. A same-day return from the Bukit with a one-hour wait starts at about $1,600.
No. Those are public viewpoints and beaches, and we do not land on public beaches or in temple grounds. We land at an approved resort or private site and you see the cliffs from the air on the way.
The crossing is: 14–20 min in the air against about 30–45 minutes at sea. The bigger saving is on land, because you skip the drive to Sanur, the beach boarding and the road across the island. For two people on a budget, the boat is still the cheaper way.
Yes. The helicopter waits on the ground at the approved site, one hour is included in the return price and each extra hour is $300. For a long stay, a quote for two separate one-way flights can be cheaper, so ask us to compare.
The pilot decides. Wind or low cloud moves the flight to the next suitable slot, often the next morning, or we refund the part that was not flown. Read what to ask an operator in our safety guide.
Tell us the date, guests, bags, your pick-up area and where you stay on Penida. A same-day reply gives you the landing options, the aircraft class and a fixed price.
