Helicopter Nusa Lembongan
Land at an approved resort on Lembongan for lunch, or loop Devil's Tear, the seaweed farms and Ceningan. Back in Bali the same day.

A Bali to Nusa Lembongan helicopter flight takes 11–15 min from Sanur, against about 30–45 minutes on the fast boat plus boarding from the beach. The whole helicopter, up to 4 guests, is $1,000 one-way, about $250 each. Landing is at an approved resort or private site only; Mushroom Bay and the other beaches are public and off the list. Send your resort name on WhatsApp and we check the site first.
Lembongan is the shortest island hop from Bali, so the boat is already quick. The helicopter wins on ease, not on minutes alone.
| Option | Time on the move | What the trip involves | Cost basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Helicopter from Sanur | 11–15 min airborne | A pad near Sanur, no harbour queue, no wading with bags, a landing close to your resort | $1,000 one-way for the whole helicopter, about $250 each for 4 |
| Helicopter from the Nusa Dua side | 12–20 min airborne | For guests staying south of the airport | $1,250 one-way |
| Helicopter from the Bukit | 14–20 min airborne | Departure from the Ungasan pad, nothing to drive first | $1,300 one-way |
| Fast boat from Sanur | About 30–45 minutes at sea | Boarding from the beach with your bags, a swell that can delay departures, then a short ride to your accommodation | Fare per person |
If you are two people on a budget with light bags, take the boat. The helicopter is for guests with children, a tight day, rough-sea worries or a resort that can approve a landing. Our wider inter-island charter page shows how the other hops compare.
The helicopter lifts off from a pad near Sanur and crosses the reef flat, where fishing boats sit on the shallows at low tide. The Bali coast drops behind you in the first minutes. Ahead, Lembongan shows as a low, flat island with Penida's wall of cliffs standing behind it to the south-east.
Over the island the pilot slows down. The shallows along the coast are laid out in neat plots of seaweed farming, rows and rectangles that change colour with the tide. The northern beach is where the boats arrive; mangroves fill the north-east. On the south-west side Mushroom Bay holds a cluster of moored boats in sheltered water, and a little further round, Devil's Tear sends swell crashing into the cliff.
The Yellow Bridge ties Lembongan to Nusa Ceningan, whose Blue Lagoon is a cove cut into the cliffs. Ceningan is small enough that you can see most of it in one slow pass. Late morning light is flat and bright on the water; for colour, go before 10:00.
Lembongan is small and built up along its beaches, so approved sites are scarce. This is what the operator looks for before it clears a landing.
Mushroom Bay and the island's other beaches are public, so they are not landing sites. The same goes for temple grounds, the cliff edge at Devil's Tear, public roads and the Yellow Bridge. If your hotel sits on a beach with no space behind it, the realistic plan is a landing on the nearest approved clearing and a short ride, which we price with you.
Land at a resort, eat, swim, fly back. A return with one hour of waiting is about $1,300; each extra hour on the ground is $300.
Lembongan has surf breaks and snorkel spots, but surfboards do not fit in the small hold. Rent on the island and bring one soft bag.
Stay for the afternoon and fly back as the sun nears the horizon. Flights end by sunset, so see golden-hour flights for the timing.
Arrive from the air at a venue with an approved site. The wedding arrival page covers the set-up and the add-ons.
Straight-line figures from the Sanur side. Lembongan to Penida is a short extra hop: 8–12 min.
| Destination | Distance | Air time | One-way helicopter |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nusa Lembongan | 21 km | 11–15 min | from $1,000 |
| Crystal Bay | 21 km | 11–15 min | from $1,000 |
| Nusa Penida | 24 km | 11–15 min | from $1,000 |
| Ngurah Rai Airport | 13 km | 9–14 min | from $900 |
| Ubud | 20 km | 10–15 min | from $950 |
| Gili Trawangan | 93 km | 30–40 min | from $2,700 |
The one-way figures already include the empty flight home. To see Penida's cliffs from the air, add the Bukit to Penida route or the island tour. Guide prices are explained on the price page.
For example: Sanur hotel to a resort at Mushroom Bay, 4 guests, 4 soft bags, 3 August, morning, back at 17:00.
The quote names the Sanur pad, the Lembongan landing, the aircraft class, the wait and the fixed price.
A deposit holds the slot; payment details come with the quote. The day before we check wind and sea state, and a flight the pilot does not like moves to the next good slot or is refunded for the part not flown.
Be at the pad 20 minutes before lift-off for the weigh-in, the briefing and headsets.
From the Bukit pad to an approved site on Penida in 14–20 min, with Kelingking and Crystal Bay in view on the way.
Sanur to Gili Trawangan in 30–40 min instead of 2–2.5 hours on a fast boat. Gili landing sites are limited and approved in advance.
Across the Lombok Strait in about 35–50 min instead of a half-day by boat or ferry.
About 11–15 min in the air. Plan on 15–20 minutes more for the weigh-in and safety briefing. The fast boat from Sanur takes about 30–45 minutes at sea.
From $1,000 one-way for the whole helicopter, up to 4 guests, about $250 each. That figure covers the helicopter's empty flight home. A same-day return with a one-hour wait starts at about $1,300.
On minutes alone the gap is small, because the boat is quick on this route. It is worth it for families, guests with bags, anyone who dislikes the swell, or when your resort can approve a landing so you skip the beach boarding entirely.
Only if the hotel or the landowner agrees and the operator clears a flat area of roughly 25–30 m across. We do not land on public beaches, in temple grounds or at the cliff viewpoints. Send the hotel name and we reply with a yes, a no or the nearest alternative; the landing guide explains the rules.
Soft bags only. The hold is small and weight is the limit in Bali heat, so surfboards stay behind and dive kit needs a weight check first. Rent boards on the island and tell us your bag weights when you book.
Yes. Lembongan to Penida is 8–12 min in the air, and a loop over both is a good use of a 30-minute slot. The Nusa Penida helicopter tour is the place to start if you want the cliffs without landing.
Tell us the date, guests, bags and the Lembongan resort you have in mind. Our same-day reply gives the landing answer, the aircraft class and a fixed price.
