Bali to Nusa Lembongan by Helicopter
Over the reef and the seaweed farms to a resort landing on Lembongan, with the Yellow Bridge to Ceningan in view. Site approved before you pay.

Helicopter Sanur flights reach Nusa Lembongan in 11–15 min, while the fast boat from the same beach takes about 30–45 minutes plus the pier queue. The whole helicopter, up to 4 guests, starts at $1,000 one-way, and Nusa Penida, Ubud, Mount Batur, the Gilis and Lombok are on the same price list. Send your hotel, date and guest count on WhatsApp; the quote names the pad and the car time to it.
Sanur faces east. A long beach and a paved promenade run beside a shallow reef lagoon, and on a clear morning Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan sit on the horizon across the Badung Strait. Hotels are low-rise and set back in gardens. The people who stay here are mostly families, couples on slow holidays, guests who return every year for weeks at a time, and divers who leave by boat after breakfast.
Three kinds of flight come up again and again from this coast:
We do not land on Sanur's public beach or on the promenade behind it. Your flight starts at an approved pad, and the exact pad is written in the quote. Island and airport flights usually use a pad in the airport area; scenic loops over the cliffs usually lift off from the Bukit near Ungasan.
From a Sanur hotel the airport is 25–40 minutes by car. The Bukit pad is further, roughly an hour in normal traffic, and the quote gives the time from your street. A private car to the pad is an add-on from $50, priced by vehicle and distance.
Plan the car ride into the day. A flight that is 12 minutes in the air can still take two hours door to door, and the pilot cannot wait for a late car if the sun is close to setting.
Eight destinations that Sanur guests ask about most. The pad is confirmed with the quote.
| Destination | Distance | Air time | One-way helicopter |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nusa Lembongan | 21 km | 11–15 min | from $1,000 |
| Nusa Penida | 24 km | 11–15 min | from $1,000 |
| Ubud | 20 km | 10–15 min | from $950 |
| Uluwatu | 25 km | 12–15 min | from $1,050 |
| Mount Batur | 51 km | 20–25 min | from $1,750 |
| Gili Trawangan | 93 km | 30–40 min | from $2,700 |
| Lombok International Airport | 112 km | 35–45 min | from $3,050 |
| Ngurah Rai Airport | 13 km | 9–14 min | from $900 |
Straight-line distance and airborne minutes from the Sanur coast. One-way prices already include the helicopter's flight back. A same-day return with a one-hour wait costs the one-way price plus $300; Sanur to Lembongan and back with a wait is about $1,300. How prices are built: price page.
Cross the Badung Strait and land on an approved site on the island, with Mushroom Bay and the seaweed farms a short ride away. Good for a beach day, a villa check-in or a dive trip.
The Kelingking cliff, Angel's Billabong, Broken Beach and Diamond Beach in one loop, without the steep island roads. Crystal Bay is 11–15 min from Sanur.
Gili Trawangan across the Lombok Strait in about the time a fast boat spends boarding. Landing sites on the Gilis are limited, so the site is cleared before you pay.
Tegalalang's rice terraces, the Campuhan ridge and the Ayung river, in soft early light before the cloud builds over the hills.
Times are typical daytime estimates. Cars and boats cost less per person; the helicopter is priced per aircraft, so the gap narrows with four or six guests.
| From Sanur to | By road or boat | Helicopter air time | One-way, whole helicopter |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nusa Lembongan or Penida | Fast boat about 30–45 min, plus pier time at both ends | 11–15 min | $1,000 |
| Ngurah Rai Airport | Car 25–40 min | 9–14 min | $900 |
| Ubud | Car about 1–1.5 h | 10–15 min | $950 |
| Mount Batur, Kintamani | Car about 1.5–2 h | 20–25 min | $1,750 |
| Gili Trawangan | Drive to Serangan or Padang Bai, then a fast boat about 2–2.5 h | 30–40 min | $2,700 |
| Lombok airport | Scheduled flight about 40 min, plus the airport and the drive to it | 35–45 min | $3,050 |
For four guests Sanur to Lembongan works out at about $250 each, against a boat fare per person. The airport hop is dear for what it is; it makes sense only as the first leg of a longer helicopter flight. Compare the whole list on the routes page.
Sanur is built along the beach: walls, palms, low roofs, narrow lanes and overhead cables. A light helicopter needs roughly 25–30 m of flat, clear ground, with no wires or tall trees close by, plus the agreement of the owner and the operator. Few plots on this strip have that. A resort with large grounds or a private estate sometimes qualifies, and most hotels do not.
The practical plan for most Sanur guests is a pad pick-up with a car from the hotel, which costs from $50 and takes the pressure off the lanes. If your hotel has a lawn or a sports field you think could work, send us the name and the street. We look at the site, ask the property, and tell you yes or no before any payment. The rules and the paperwork are in how landing at a villa or hotel works and in the villa landing guide.
The sand, the promenade and the fast-boat piers are public and busy. They are not landing sites, and the pilot will not set down there.
Mornings suit Sanur. The beach faces the sunrise, the lagoon shows pale water over the reef, and the air is steadiest from about 07:00 to 10:00. Inland flights to Ubud and Mount Batur should go first, because cloud builds over the hills from late morning, most of all from November to March.
Sunset is different. Seen from Sanur the sun drops behind the island, not into the sea, so for a golden-hour flight we start from the Bukit or the west coast instead; see the sunset helicopter flight page. The dry months of April to October give the clearest water over the Penida cliffs. In July, August and the Christmas weeks, ask ten to fourteen days ahead.

The date, the number of guests with rough weights, the Sanur hotel (or the end of the beach), and where you want to go. We answer between 08:00 and 20:00 WITA.
It names the aircraft class, the pad, the car time from your hotel, the landing site and the price. Larger groups get the 6-seat class or two helicopters.
Payment details come with the quote. Nothing is paid through this website.
We confirm the pick-up time. If wind or cloud makes the flight unsafe, the pilot decides, and we move it or refund the part not flown.
We do not land on the public beach or on the promenade. Flights from Sanur start at an approved pad, usually in the airport area or on the Bukit, and a few larger properties can be cleared for a private landing. The exact pad and the car time from your hotel are written in the quote.
About 11–15 min in the air over roughly 21 km. A fast boat takes about 30–45 minutes plus pier time. Add 15–20 minutes at each end for the briefing and shutdown.
From $1,000 one-way for the whole helicopter, up to 4 guests, which is about $250 each. The price includes the helicopter's flight back. A same-day return with a one-hour wait starts at about $1,300. See also the Nusa Penida guide.
Yes: 30–40 min to Gili Trawangan, from $2,700 one-way. Landing sites on the Gilis are limited and need prior approval, so we confirm the spot first. The Gili Islands guide explains the options.
Between 07:00 and 10:00, when the air is clearest and the hills are free of cloud. Flights run from sunrise to sunset and never at night. For a golden-hour flight we start from the Bukit or the west coast.
Tell us the children's ages and weights when you book. Combined weight sets the aircraft class: the 4-seat class takes up to 4 guests, the 6-seat class up to 6 at about 1.4 times the rate. The operator confirms child seating and headsets in the quote.
Tell us where you stay in Sanur, where you want to land, how many people and what the bags weigh. We reply the same day with the pad, the aircraft and a fixed price.
