Tanah Lot Helicopter Tour
18 minutes up the west coast: Seminyak, Canggu and the sea temple of Tanah Lot, best flown in the last hour before sunset.

Helicopter Pererenan Berawa flights start from the villa-heavy ends of the Canggu coast, 45–75 minutes from the airport by car and 1.25–2 hours from Uluwatu. From here a helicopter reaches Ubud in 11–15 min, Tanah Lot in 7–11 min and Nusa Penida in 15–20 min. The whole helicopter, up to 4 guests, starts at $700 one-way to Tanah Lot. Send the villa area, date and guest count on WhatsApp, and we name the pad and the pick-up time.
The Canggu coast runs from Berawa, at the Seminyak end, past the Batu Bolong and Echo Beach centre to Pererenan, at the Tanah Lot end. Berawa and Pererenan are the stretches where villa estates, cafés and beach clubs sit among rice fields, and the beaches are dark sand with surf breaks. The guests are villa groups on stays of a week or more, couples, remote workers on month-long visits and surfers.
A villa group is the natural helicopter customer: four people fit the 4-seat class, up to six fit the 6-seat class at about 1.4 times the rate, and two helicopters take 7 or 8. The price is for the aircraft, so a family splitting it pays less per person than a couple. Three flights come up most:
This is the part of Bali where road time varies most. The airport is 45–75 minutes from Canggu in daytime traffic, and Uluwatu 1.25–2 hours. Scenic flights usually lift off from the Bukit pad near Ungasan, and airport or island flights use a pad in the airport area. The exact pad is written in the quote, along with the time to leave your villa.
A private car to the pad starts at $50. For a group of six that is two cars, so ask for both in the quote. If a larger estate or a venue near you can host a landing, we check it first; the next section explains what that takes. For the Batu Bolong and Echo Beach end of the coast read helicopter Canggu, and for the Seminyak side helicopter Seminyak.
From the Pererenan coast to eight places that villa guests ask about. Berawa is a few minutes closer to the airport, and the numbers are within a few minutes.
| Destination | Distance | Air time | One-way helicopter |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ngurah Rai Airport | 12 km | 9–14 min | from $900 |
| Tanah Lot | 5 km | 7–11 min | from $700 |
| Ubud | 22 km | 11–15 min | from $1,000 |
| Jatiluwih | 31 km | 13–20 min | from $1,300 |
| Uluwatu | 21 km | 11–15 min | from $1,000 |
| Nusa Penida | 40 km | 15–20 min | from $1,350 |
| Mount Batur | 53 km | 20–25 min | from $1,750 |
| Lombok International Airport | 127 km | 35–50 min | from $3,250 |
These are straight lines and airborne minutes. The fare already includes the helicopter's return flight; hold it on the ground for an hour and the total rises by $300, which puts a Ubud round trip at about $1,300. Fare method: price page.
The sea temple is 7–11 min up the coast. Fly the rice fields, the black-sand shore and the rock in one loop, and be back at the pad before lunch.
Tegalalang's terraces, the Campuhan ridge and the Ayung river, 11–15 min from your villa area. Best in soft morning light.
Kelingking, Angel's Billabong, Broken Beach and Diamond Beach in one flight, 15–20 min from the Canggu coast.
A transfer that replaces 45–75 minutes of traffic. It makes most sense for guests with a tight connection or a lot of luggage.
Typical daytime estimates for a start on the Canggu coast. Times widen in heavy traffic.
| From Pererenan to | By road or boat | Helicopter air time | One-way, whole helicopter |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ngurah Rai Airport | Car 45–75 min (Canggu range) | 9–14 min | $900 |
| Uluwatu | Car 1.25–2 h | 11–15 min | $1,000 |
| Ubud | Car about 1–1.5 h | 11–15 min | $1,000 |
| Nusa Penida | Car to Sanur, then a fast boat about 30–45 min | 15–20 min | $1,350 |
| Gili Trawangan | Drive to Serangan or Padang Bai, then a fast boat about 2–2.5 h | 30–45 min | $2,850 |
| Lombok airport | Drive to the airport, then a scheduled flight about 40 min | 35–50 min | $3,250 |
Divided by four, Pererenan to Ubud is about $250 each. A car costs less; the helicopter returns the hours the traffic takes. See more flights from the villa belt on the routes page.
Villa plots here are walled and mostly small. A pool, a garden and a few palms rarely leave 25–30 m of clear ground, and overhead cables run along the lanes. The sites that can host a light helicopter are large estates, event venues with lawns and some bigger beachside plots, and each one is cleared case by case with the owner and the operator.
Rice fields look like the obvious answer and are usually the wrong one. Planted or flooded paddy belongs to the farmers and their irrigation, and we do not land on a working field. A dry, fallow plot can qualify if the owner agrees. The beach is a public surf beach and is never a landing site.
Most villa groups therefore take a short car ride to a cleared site or the pad. That is also how a wedding or a birthday party on the coast usually works; see helicopter wedding arrivals and how villa landings are approved before you promise guests an arrival on the lawn.
Late afternoon is this coast's hour. Pererenan and Berawa face west, the sun drops into the sea, and the surf lines show as white stripes from the air. A golden-hour flight takes off 20–30 minutes before sunset, which is about 18:05 in June and 18:40 in late December. Sunset slots go first in July, August and Christmas week.
For Ubud and Mount Batur the better window is 07:00 to 10:00, before cloud builds over the hills. April to October is the clearest season; from November to March afternoon showers are likely and mornings are safer. The rice fields change colour with the planting cycle, from flooded mirrors to green to gold, so the same flight looks different from month to month.
Write Pererenan or Berawa, the street or the villa name, the date, the number of guests and rough weights. Say if you want sunset or a morning flight.
The quote names the aircraft, the pad or site, the car times and one fixed price. We reply between 08:00 and 20:00 WITA.
The deposit secures the date, and the quote explains how to pay. This site takes no payments.
The pilot makes the final weather call. A flight that cannot go safely is moved to the next suitable slot or the part not flown is refunded.
We do not land on the beaches or on working rice fields. Flights start from an approved pad, in the airport area or on the Bukit, or from a cleared estate or venue nearby. The exact pad is in the quote, with the car time from your villa.
About 11–15 min in the air over roughly 22 km, against 1–1.5 hours by car. From $1,000 one-way for the whole helicopter, up to 4 guests. See the Ubud helicopter tour.
Only if the villa has roughly 25–30 m of flat, clear ground with no wires or tall trees close by, the owner agrees and the operator clears the landing. Most walled villa plots do not. Send the villa name and a photo of the open area.
The 18-minute Tanah Lot tour is $650 for the whole helicopter, about $165 each for four guests. A one-way transfer along the coast to Tanah Lot is from $700.
Yes, an 18-minute golden-hour flight is $750 for the whole helicopter. Take-off is about 20–30 minutes before sunset, and the flight ends at sunset. Flights never run at night.
Up to 4 in the standard class, up to 6 in the larger class at about 1.4 times the rate, and 7 or 8 with two helicopters. Send rough weights, since weight sets the aircraft class in Bali's heat.
Tell us the villa area, how many guests and the flight you have in mind. We reply the same day with the pad, the car times and a fixed price.
