Tanah Lot is a sea temple on a rock outcrop off the Tabanan coast. The temple dates from the 16th century, and the water around the rock rises and falls with the tide. Landing
Landing at a Resort, Villa or Venue in Tabanan
Space is the advantage. Many resorts and venues here stand on large plots with lawns, and the west has fewer wires and tall buildings than Seminyak or Canggu. The rule of thumb for a light helicopter is roughly 25–30 m of flat, clear ground, no loose items and no overhead lines or tall trees close by.
Two limits apply. Wind off the sea is usually stronger on a clifftop in the afternoon, so the pilot may choose a spot back from the edge or ask for a morning slot. And rice fields are not pads: planted or flooded paddy belongs to the farmers, and we do not land on a working field. A dry, fallow plot with the owner's agreement can qualify.

Timing
Best Time to Fly From Tanah Lot
Choose between two slots. From 07:00 to 10:00 the terraces and Mount Batukaru are clear, because mountain cloud builds from late morning, more so from November to March. In the last hour before sunset the temple rock is backlit and the coast turns orange. Sunset falls at about 18:05 in June and 18:40 in late December, and we count back from it.
The water around the rock changes with the tide, so the temple looks different from one hour to the next. If the rock matters for your photos, ask us to check the tide table for your day. April to October is the clearest season; in the wet months showers gather in the afternoon and the morning slot is safer.
