Helicopter Honeymoon Day in Bali: Morning Ubud, Golden-Hour Bukit
A helicopter honeymoon day in Bali fits two flights: a 07:30 flight over the Ubud rice terraces and the Ayung gorge from $500, then a golden-hour flight along the Bukit cliffs from $750, with a villa breakfast, a spa session, an afternoon rest and dinner in between. Both prices are for the whole helicopter, so for two guests they come to $250 and $375 each. This plan gives the hours, the add-ons, the transfers and the weather back-up.
The day
The Honeymoon Day Hour by Hour
The plan assumes you sleep in Ubud the night before and move to the Bukit in the afternoon. Sunset in Bali is about 18:05 in June and about 18:40 in late December, and a golden-hour flight lifts off 20 to 30 minutes before.
- Car to the padA private car collects you from the villa. We can add one from $50, priced by area. Take a light layer; mornings in the hills are cool.
- Briefing and headsetsThe pilot explains the seats, the headsets and the route. Tell the pilot now if either of you is nervous, and say where you would like the pilot to slow down.
- Lift-off over UbudThe helicopter follows the Campuhan ridge, crosses the Ayung gorge and passes the Tegalalang terraces. The air is clear and the light is low. Read the Ubud tour page for the landmarks in order.
- Back at the villa for breakfastYou are at the table before most guests are up. A bouquet from the pad ($60) can be waiting in the villa.
- SpaA couple's massage or a flower bath, booked directly with your villa or a spa. We do not sell spa treatments, so book it for after the flight.
- Lunch and a restThe hottest hours are for the pool and a nap. In the wet season, November to March, showers come in the afternoon, which is a good reason to rest indoors.
- Move to the BukitBy car, Ubud to Uluwatu is about 1.5 to 2 hours. By helicopter, Ubud to the Bukit is 14–20 min in the air and $1,300 one-way for the whole aircraft.
- Pad and briefingArrive about 45 minutes before take-off. A second briefing, a glass of water and a look at the sky.
- Golden-hour flightThe helicopter runs along the cliffs past GWK and the Pandawa cliffs to Uluwatu Temple on its sea cliff. The sun drops towards the horizon and the water turns copper. See the sunset flight page.
- Land with sparkling wineSparkling wine ($120) is opened on the ground, never in the air. A ground photographer ($250) shoots the landing.
- DinnerA table at a Jimbaran Bay seafood café, or a private clifftop dinner set-up for two from $450 on approved land. The kecak dance at Uluwatu Temple is at sunset, so it clashes with the flight; keep it for another evening.

Where to stay
Where to Stay: Ubud First, Then the Bukit
The two flights sit at opposite ends of the island, which is why the plan changes base in the afternoon. Ubud suits the morning, because the terraces, the gorge and the clear air are on its doorstep. The Bukit suits the evening, because the cliff line from Ungasan to Uluwatu is at its best in the last hour before sunset, and the pad is a short car ride from most Bukit villas.
If you prefer one base, stay on the Bukit and do both flights from the same pad area. The Ubud flight then starts further away, and the quote shows the longer positioning. If you prefer to stay in Ubud all day, the golden-hour flight can be swapped for a coastal flight from a pad closer to you. Weather
Seasons, Weather and the Back-Up Day
April to October is the dry season, with the clearest air and the most reliable mornings. November to March is wetter, with showers clustered in the afternoon, so a morning flight is the safer slot and the golden-hour flight needs a back-up. Peak demand is July and August and the weeks of Christmas and New Year, when golden-hour slots go first.
The pilot decides on the day. If cloud, rain or wind make a flight unsafe, we move it to the next suitable slot or refund the part that was not flown. Small Things That Make the Day Easier
- Tell the villa about the 07:30 start. They can leave coffee out and breakfast for 08:15.
- Wear flat shoes and light clothes, with no hats or scarves. Rotor wash on the pad takes them. See what to wear and bring.
- Book the spa after the flight, not before. A delayed flight should not cost you a treatment.

What time is the golden-hour flight?
It lifts off about 20 to 30 minutes before sunset and lands at sunset. That is about 17:40 in June and about 18:10 in late December. We fly in daylight only.
Can we land somewhere for dinner?
