Honeymoon Helicopter Flight
30 minutes for two over Ubud and the Batur caldera, or a golden-hour coast flight that ends at sunset. Sparkling wine and photographer optional.
A good Bali honeymoon itinerary for 7 days spends 2 nights in Ubud, 3 on the Bukit near Uluwatu and 2 on the coast at Nusa Lembongan or Canggu, with two helicopter flights placed where the light is best: a 07:30 flight over the Ubud terraces on day 2 from $500, and a golden-hour flight along the Bukit cliffs on day 4 from $750. Both prices are for the whole helicopter, so for two guests they come to $250 and $375 each. Below are the day table, each base in detail, the costs and a rain plan.

Seven nights, three bases, two flights. Start green, then go to the cliffs, then finish by the water. Ubud comes first because the first days after a long flight suit a cool, quiet valley, and the morning air there is among the clearest on the island for a helicopter. The Bukit comes second because the cliffs and the sunset are the pay-off of the trip. The coast comes last because a beach and a slow lunch are the right way to finish. Arrival is day 1 and departure is the morning of day 8.
The helicopter is used twice, not every day. A morning flight over Ubud on day 2 and a golden-hour flight on day 4 give you the two best light windows in Bali, 07:00–10:00 for the hills and the last hour before sunset for the coast. Everything else is pool, spa, food and walking. Each flight has a spare slot built in, so one wet afternoon does not cost you the view. For a single day of the same idea, see the helicopter honeymoon day and the honeymoon day itinerary.
Car times are typical daytime ranges and move with traffic. Sunset is about 18:05 in June and about 18:40 in late December.
| Day | Base | What you do | Helicopter |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ubud | Land at Ngurah Rai, car to Ubud (60–90 minutes), a slow evening | None |
| 2 | Ubud | 07:30 flight, villa breakfast, spa, a rest in the heat, a walk on the Campuhan ridge at the end of the day | Morning Ubud flight, $500 |
| 3 | Ubud to Bukit | Late check-out, car to the Bukit (1.5–2 hours) or fly, afternoon pool | Spare slot for the Ubud flight; or the transfer, $1,300 |
| 4 | Bukit | Beach and a long lunch, rest, golden-hour flight, dinner | Golden-hour Bukit flight, $750 |
| 5 | Bukit | Free day: Uluwatu Temple by day, or the Penida loop | Spare evening for golden hour; or the Penida loop, $1,150 |
| 6 | Bukit to coast | Move to Nusa Lembongan or Canggu, a late afternoon on the sand | Optional Lembongan transfer, $1,300 |
| 7 | Coast | No plan: beach, spa, a long dinner | Optional Tanah Lot golden hour from Canggu, $750 |
| 8 | Departure | Car or boat to the airport; keep a wide margin | None |
Prices are for the whole helicopter, up to 4 guests, with pilot and fuel included. The full list is on the price page.
Ubud is 60–90 minutes from the airport by car, so day 1 ends with a drive and dinner, not a plan. On day 2 you fly at 07:30. The Ubud helicopter tour follows the Campuhan ridge, the Ayung gorge and the Tegalalang terraces in 12 minutes, in the soft, side-lit air that comes before mountain cloud builds. A bouquet ($60) can be waiting at the villa afterwards.
Keep the rest of day 2 empty. Book a couple's massage for after the flight, not before, so a delayed take-off does not cost you a treatment. The heat peaks after noon, and in the wet season showers cluster in the afternoon, so indoor hours suit those days.
Day 3 is the move. By road, Ubud to Uluwatu takes 1.5–2 hours. By helicopter it takes 14–20 min for $1,300 one-way for the whole aircraft, and a helicopter from the airport to Ubud can start the trip the same way. Most couples drive and keep the helicopter for the two scenic flights. If cloud or rain moved the Ubud flight, day 3 morning is the spare slot, which is why you ask for a late check-out.
The Bukit is the dry limestone peninsula with Uluwatu Temple on its sea cliff, about 70 m high, and the Padang Padang, Bingin, Suluban and Melasti beaches below the white cliffs. Stay somewhere close to the helipad at Ungasan so the car on flight day is short.
On day 4 the plan is slow until 16:00. Lunch, a swim and a rest, then the pad. A golden-hour flight lifts off 20–30 minutes before sunset, so about 17:40 in June and about 18:10 in late December. The sunset flight runs along the cliff, slows at the temple and lands as the sun reaches the horizon. Sparkling wine ($120) is opened on the ground. For a photographer at the landing, add $250.
Day 5 is deliberately open. It is the spare evening for the flight if day 4 was cloudy. If the flight went ahead, use day 5 for Uluwatu Temple by day, or fly the 30-minute Nusa Penida loop in the morning. The kecak dance at Uluwatu Temple is normally timed around sunset, so check the current schedule and do not put it on the same evening as a golden-hour flight.
Nusa Lembongan is the quieter end. A fast boat from Sanur takes about 30–45 minutes, and the island has Mushroom Bay, Devil's Tear and the Yellow Bridge to Nusa Ceningan, with no big roads. A helicopter transfer from the Bukit is 14–20 min in the air and $1,300 one-way for the whole helicopter, but landing on the island needs an approved site, confirmed before you pay. See Bali to Nusa Lembongan by helicopter.
Canggu is the lively end: rice fields between villas, Batu Bolong, Echo Beach, Berawa and Pererenan, and cafés on every corner. The airport is 45–75 minutes away, and the Bukit is 1.25–2 hours. If you choose Canggu, the 18-minute Tanah Lot flight at golden hour on day 7 makes a third flight and a gentle last evening for $750.
Whichever you choose, leave day 7 empty and plan the departure morning with a wide margin. Airport transfers from Sanur harbour or Canggu add boat and traffic time.

Two rules keep a honeymoon relaxed. Put one planned thing in each half-day at most, and keep every flight day free of other bookings after 14:00. Honeymoon trips go wrong when a flight, a spa and a dinner are stacked into one afternoon and one delay breaks all three.
April to October is the dry season and the clearest; peak demand is July and August and Christmas to New Year. From November to March, afternoon showers are common, and mornings are usually fine. In that season keep the Ubud flight in the morning, and treat the golden-hour flight as a spare-slot flight: book day 4 and hold day 5. The pilot decides on the day, and we reschedule or refund the part not flown. The best-time guide and the wet-season guide show the months.
If your dates fall on Nyepi, normally in March, the island is silent and the airport closes for about 24 hours. Read Nyepi Day: can you fly and build the plan around it.
Make the day 4 flight the moment. The Classic proposal package is the same golden-hour flight with a bouquet and sparkling wine.
Swap day 4 or 5 for a landing on a private clifftop with a table set for two. The site is cleared before you pay.
Replace the Ubud flight with a 30-minute loop to the Batur caldera. Keep it early in the morning, when the cone is clear.
Seven nights is a comfortable length for three bases: 2 nights in Ubud, 3 on the Bukit and 2 on the coast. Five nights works if you drop the third base. The helicopter adds two flights without adding days.
The Ubud morning flight is $500 and the golden-hour Bukit flight is $750, each for the whole helicopter. For two guests that is $250 and $375 each, before extras such as sparkling wine at $120.
Ubud first suits most couples: it is cooler and quiet after a long flight, and the morning air is best for the terraces. The Bukit is the pay-off, so it comes in the middle. Ubud to Uluwatu takes 1.5–2 hours by road, so move once, not twice.
Mornings. From November to March showers cluster in the afternoon, while mornings are usually fine. Keep the Ubud flight at 07:30 and hold a spare evening for the golden-hour flight.
Yes, as two separate flights quoted together, with the spa and a rest between them. That is the pattern in the helicopter honeymoon day. On a 7-day trip it is better to space them out.
It saves most of a 1.5–2 hour drive: 14–20 min in the air against 1.5–2 hours by road, for $1,300 one-way for the whole aircraft, or $650 each for two. Most couples drive and spend the money on the scenic flights.
Send your arrival date, the bases you have in mind and how many guests. We reply the same day with the pads, the order of the flights and one fixed price. Nothing is paid on this site.
